saturday: punctured, sail fail, but undefeated/happy.

after a 15-mile riverside ride, my bike, despite its long-punctured tire, made it to evanston.
"i'm here!"

the catalyst for the ride was to go sailing. though the lack of wind squashed those plans.
people tanning, not sailing

a circuitous route back to logan followed. we tried to find the lakeshore bike trail; going east, going west, east, back west, then east again for nearly half an hour. grilled and bourbon-marinated chuck roast awaited (though chuck is not the best cut to grill).

"pair me with butter & garlic potatoes, a spring salad with grilled mushrooms and bleu cheese, and beer." "ok"

urban walk: thoughts and sights

thoughts
  • bursting appendix that turned out to be side pain induced by coffee ice cream
  • if wrapping foil around old-school cell-phone antennas would help reception
  • how awesome it would be if i could parkour or freerun
  • how awful it would be if i had fatal familial insomnia, remembering an article i read in "national geographic"
  • excited to watch "singing in the rain", a recommendation from The Webb

sights
bike puppeteer, andersonville, 8:11 p.m.
last seen in front of the art institute, 2008

a house that should belong to a southern politician, lincoln square

manicured lawns that remind me of jeff koons in versailles, 2008

nomad

rhinestone underwear and product placement

When "Bad Romance" came out, we had a viewing on the hour, every hour, at the office. Six months later, I finally get around to watching "Telephone".

Superficial and short summary:
first two minutes: torture to watch, where's the beat?
gaga can rock beer cans and telephones as headgear
gratuitous breast shots
mainstream queerness is promising
i want the lipstick gaga wears in the kitchen
nods to michael jackson fashion
axl rose gaga and wonderwoman beyonce dancing together is probably the most fulfilling part of this video.

millennium park: one week later

i don't really listen to she & him, but i think a lot of people do because of zooey d. m. ward probably feels bad about this—he's not folk enough to be folk, not rock enough to be rock, and he isn't a cute girl.

i wanted to see zooey d's style in person since i loved it in 500 Days of Summer, but i am bummed when she looks like a go-go dancer instead. however, there is a backup vocalist who is wearing a black and white ruffled dress that i want.

(z.d. casually works in that she went to northwestern and i feel a bit proud at that moment.)

major disappointment

prince.
bummer.
